Mesh Netting - Advantages
- It is fine enough to keep out carrot fly etc
- It allows in both sunlight and rain
- The mesh netting can be used season after season
- It is very effective at protecting tender crops from damage from hail or heavy rain
- It also acts a barrier to moisture loss during long dry periods
- It gives some protection against frost (Fleece is more effective in this regard)
Mesh Netting - Disadvantages
- It is more expensive than ordinary garden netting
- It makes weeding of the vegetables quite tricky and time consuming
Mesh Netting - How to Install
- The fine mesh netting should be laid flat over the bed
- Loosely gather to allow for crop growth
- The edges should be buried or secured in position
